Work in Progress – Lua

IMG_20160128_150229bWork in Progress – Lua – 10″ x 10″, Acrylics

I’m finally back from my trip to Calgary and I am ready to dive into painting again!

I started this piece yesterday. It’s a portrait of a brindled French bulldog named Lua. She’s a lovely, very friendly and energetic little dog.

Unfortunately, I cannot finish it today (appointments!) but I will work on it tomorrow and hopefully have it finished by the end of the day.

I have to work on the nose a lot more and I will readjust the background. She is quite a dark dog, so I thought the lighter fabric background would work well and let her stand out.

To be continued…!

Hiatus – why?

Boat wreck on Gyro Beach

I feel a bit like this boat right now!

Wow, I know it’s been a while since I’ve posted – or done art for that matter..!

When my son went back to school, it was a hectic week of paperwork and getting back in the swing of things for the new year (and preparing my son’s birthday party). So, that half week went by in a flash.

I stupidly thought that I would be back doing art this week. I was really looking forward to it but.. I got sick. And Cole got sick. Sigh. Thankfully, Ross (my husband) is not sick yet!

So, I took advantage of my time on the couch to go through thousands and thousands of pictures that I will be able to use as references for future paintings. I have a lot of pictures to go through. Although several super talented photographers have allowed me to use their photos, I much prefer to work from my own. I will most likely end up doing a mix of both!

Soooo… will I be back next week? Well, possibly. I only have three days (two really) because I’m leaving for a little trip to Calgary. Cole has a diving competition over there. That kid is really keeping us busy!

On the plus side, I will use all the time that I will have by myself in Calgary to have a mini-retreat in order to come up with my plan of attack for the year!

À bientôt!

Otis received

Penny receiving “Otis” as a Christmas gift

My first commission, “Otis”, was given to Penny for Christmas. She was very surprised and very moved.

I have to say that it feels great to contribute to someone’s happiness!

Happy New Year everyone 🙂

My son is going back to school on Wednesday, so I should start painting within the week. À bientôt!
